Wargames Paper craft Part III

In the third and forth part of my series on Papercraft for RPG & Waregames I'm going to look at Miniatures figures for you.

Id like to start by thanking everyone who has contributed so far, Roleplaing and wargaming can be an expensive hobby an in these times of austerity its hard to be able to justify the cost of a hobby. Paper models still cost ( printing etc.) but they enable the thrifty gamer to save some hard earned cash.

Im going to concentrate this article on Sci Fi and Space related including 40K, Part IV will be more geared towards fantasy.

One of the problems with war gaming even when dealing with small skirmishes is the cost of miniatures. I simply cannot afford 30-40 miniatures however to print off 4-5 sheets is within my budget.

I have provided below a few examples of the files that can be found and a few links with each website listing

Zen Paper Miniatures

The zen website is a mine of information and can be found on the link below, this page details mainly with 40k paper miniatures but some of them could be used for other sci fi games. Get on over to

Star Base 400

Ive been looking into Play by post over the past few weeks and searching around you can find hundreds on offer. As with anything I can imagine that the quality will vary as much as the content, genre and system behind it all.

The Game

I've got three to play this year and the first is Starbase 400, this is a Star Trek themed game so I have a little knowledge about the universe its set in. Having said this the game has been running for 16 years and the back story is quiet impressive.

The Site

The main site is a mine of information and would be worth a visit by any Star Trek fan, If you visit try out the Lcars Menu on the left.
The members area contains not only universe and game information but provides information to those who are new to playing via this medium.

The application process is quite involved but helps you develop your character in your mind, your required to give an example post too They give you the situation and you write your reply.

Ill keep you update in part II with a game update.

A Song of Ice and Fire Roleplaying

Welcome to the beginning of A Song of Ice and Fire Roleplaying! Many different paths may have brought you here, and we’ll take a look at them before we dive into the world of adventure, excitement, opportunity, and betrayal that is the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros.

These ENnie Award-winning Quick-Start rules and the adventure Journey to King’s Landing are mean to be your introduction to both the A Song of Ice and Fire Roleplaying game and to the fantasy world detailed in George R.R. Martin’s best-selling series of novels.
A Song of Ice and Fire Roleplaying is about Machiavellian court politics, family alliances and enmities, the rise and fall of kingdoms, and the clash of armies, but it is also about honor and duty, family, the responsibilities of leadership, love and loss; tournaments, murders, conspiracies, prophecies, dreams, war, great victories, and terrible defeats. It’s about knights, both false and true... and it’s about dragons.

Welcome to the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, and remember the words of House Stark: “Winter is coming.”
